Handmade Calabash Pipe This one was carved according to the Inglourius Basterds Model, of which the manufacturer sadly retired. The corpus is actually made from a genuine calabash (pumpkin), it's not made of wood. Hence, the corresponding product price. Calabash has become a very precious material.Since the movie was released in 2009 I was asked many times, if I could provide a pipe as seen in the movie. I found the manufacturer by chance four years later.  This is according to the manufacturer the exact same model from the same manufacturer, who made the original pipe for the Inglourious Basterds movie as seen in the depicted scene. Christoph Waltz smokes this pipe model incorporating his character SS-Standartenführer Hans Landa, for which got the Oscar. The manufacturer told me: [...] The filmmakers bought the pipe regularly. The middle part is white, the material turns in yellow after some time. The bit is tortoise-shell colour and made of precious resin from German origin. So, it's no Acryl, no sprayed colour. [...]This is meant to point out clearly that this pipe is no official merchandise and is connected in no way to the Movie Company or producers. This is no official merchandise, but an item according to the construction as seen in the movie. The original manufacturer makes this by hand in the exact same way as they made the film-pipe. She sadly retired in the meantime, so we had to discontinue the production. It goes without saying that possible copyrights resp. associated trade mark rights are vested in the right holders and are hereby not affected. Among others these right holders are mentioned: Universal Pictures and Weinstein Co.. Thus, this links to the Official Website of the highly recommend Tarantino Movie. It's a semi-freehand Hardwood Corncob. Modified in Germany. The treatment results in the design, which is depicted. We hold the view that this is what the manufacturer wanted to actually build: A natural pipe with a natural finish. We don't seal the surface with wax or varnish.The price is compared to regular wood pipes set at a tad higher level than usual. This is due to the handwork that's invested into each single one of these. This Corncob Pipe is a limited and discontinued Anniversary Special Edition of Missouri Meerschaum Co.. The Franklin shape is a remake of the old pre war Corncob Shape with the square shank and a square ferrule. It got the spool like bowl shape with cutted sides. So it can be placed easiyl on every surface.This shape demands for a lot of hand work. That's why it's only a limited edition that was available for a short time only. We were able to get our fingers on  a little batch thanks to Missouri Meerschaum Co..
